A new digital camera from Panasonic: FH25A
The team from Panasonic has manufactured a new camera. Its name: Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH25A. According to them, this product is a complete camera image-making machine, with lots of features and great performance. Is this all true? Read our review and find out.
HD movies as default
The Panasonic DMC-FH25A sports a 2.7” LCD monitor, 230K dots of resolution, 8x Leica wide-angle 28-224mm (35mm equivalent) zoom lens, 1280 x 720p HD video @ 24fps, 1/2.33-inch 16.1MP high-resolution CCD sensor, 100/800/400/200/auto/1600/6400 ISO, built-in flash, 3.9” x 1.1” x 2.2”, 136 g, 10x Intelligent Zoom, 8x Optical zoom, 4x Digital zoom, 70MB built-in memory, SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards, NTSC Video Recording, USB 2.0, AV Output and Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack.

And now for some features. Panasonic manufacturers have packed their DMC-FH25A model with the following: Optical Image Stabilization, Self Timer, 27 Scene modes, 8 color modes, Sonic Speed autofocus, Intelligent Auto exposure, Easy Zoom, Extra Optical Zoom, Intelligent Zoom, Sonic Speed AF system, Intelligent Resolution, Venus Engine VI image processing engine, Unlimited Consecutive Shooting, AF Tracking, Quick AF, Face Detection, Face Tracking, Digital Red-eye Correction, Auto Backlight, PHOTOfunSTUDIO 6.0 and many more.
Very easy to use
The design of this camera is beautiful; it comes with a compact, stylish body, which is very easy to hold and carry around or move from pocket to bag and so on. The large 2.7” LCD monitor analyzes light conditions and controls the brightness level; this ensures that the device displays the most appropriate setting for you to snap a photo. During our test of the Lumix DMC-FH25A the menu of this camera was very easy to use and so was browsing through different functions, whose names were displayed in text form.
Leica lenses, as usual
The 28mm Wide-Angle 8x Optical Zoom lens, a newly developed LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR one, includes 9 elements in 7 groups, as well as 3 aspherical lenses with 6 aspherical surfaces. With the help of the Wide-Angle lens we were able to shoot large groups of friends indoors, as well as scenes with rich perspective from short distances.
Venus Engine VI technology
The Venus Engine VI integrates the Intelligent Resolution Technology and this translates into beautiful images that feature great quality signal processing. The former also includes an advanced noise reduction system; this is great for taking photos at night or in low indoor lighting. When we wanted to snap a picture of a moving subject, we used the Auto Focus tracking function and the Intelligent Exposure one; and, when we wanted to prevent blurry images cause by shaky hands, we activated the Optical Image Stabilization Shake Detection option.
28 scene modes
The DMC-FH25A boasts with 28 scene modes; all you have to do is choose the setting and the camera will do the rest. Some of these scene modes: Pet, Baby and Sports.
During the test of this camera we also reviewed the Face Detection feature: we encountered no problem, because this feature detected faces (preventing blurs), automatically optimized the exposure and focus and also made sure that red eyes were corrected. We had another valuable help in the Intelligent Scene Selector feature: this automatically sets the Scene Mode to Portrait, Macro, Night Portrait*1, Sunset or Night Scenery, judges the picture from various detection results and chooses the best scene option so that you’ll get great photos.
Built in memory
After snapping a picture and shooting a video, we shared them with friends on the spot by connecting the device or the memory card to our PC.
The built-in memory is great for when you don’t have a memory card nearby; you simply take some pictures and copy them to the memory card or your computer. Another possibility: you can copy said images from the memory card to the camera’s integrated memory and view them on the device’s screen.
The test and review conclusions
Here end our test and review. The new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH25A is good little camera for anybody. It offers great performance, nice design and many useful features.
