Acer Iconia Tab A200
A new tablet powered by Android
CES 2012 ended yesterday and we already can’t wait for next year’s edition. Expectations were met by many gadgets, while others fell short of delivering what they promised. The series of Acer tablets sporting Android has become richer with the Iconia Tab A200 model set to have the US release date tomorrow at a price of just $329.99.
The Acer Iconia Tab A200 (here is a test, recently performed) is described by the company that made it as a tool for activities that include watching films, listening to the consumer’s favorite songs, playing games, reading e-books, using Facebook, dedicating time to photography and so on.
Until it gets an official release and people start buying it, the Iconia Tab A200 will only run the Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system, with the Ice Cream Sandwich following at a date that was communicated by Acer to be in the middle of next month, when we will be back with a full review. The company considers their recent gadget a miracle of design, with the sleek factor being mentioned as a key point.![]()
Dual-core Tegra processor
The 10.1-inch screen with a 1280 x 800 resolution is perceived as bringing extreme clarity to images, the dual-core Tegra CPU with 8GB of storage (a version with 16GB will cost an extra $20) and the GeForce GPU will feature gaming as a high definition experience, but it won’t limit to games: browsing will be tons faster, apps will be based on Flash and multitasking will be a most pleasant addition.
Acer’s Iconia Tab A200 has some features that the iPad 2 manufactured by Apple doesn’t ship with: a software called Acer SocialJogger for Facebook, Twitter and other social media consolidation into a single spot, a full-size USB 2.0 port (excellent for connecting various gadgets like cameras and high definition displays to this tablet), one microUSB port (able to be used for passing data) and one microSD slot.
