LG A290: first triple SIM phone
A phone with a changed concept
A new LG triple SIM phone will make people over in Russia pretty enthusiastic, since theirs is the first country to receive the device at the end of this month for a price of Rs 4,950 (that’s 75 euros). Its name ? LG A290.
The segment that includes triple-SIM phones has always been led by manufacturers of budget phones, three of them being Micromax, Intex and Zen Mobile. Things are going to change once the LG A290, a phone with enough capacity to hold three SIM cards instead of two, enters the Russian arena.
The specifications of the phone previewed today: 113.5mm x 51mm x 12.95mm with the shape of a candy bar include a 2.2″ screen that has a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels, a 1.3MP cam incorporating, of course, a flashlight and a 1500 mAh battery. If you go to GSM Arena, you’ll read no mention on whether this device let users keep their all three SIM cards active at the same time, but we sure hope such a thing will be possible, if not just yet then somewhere in the not so far away future.
Its name: A290
No word either has been divulged on whether the A290 is going to be triple SIM dual active or triple SIM dual standby; while triple SIM dual active means that 2 SIM cards can be active simultaneously, triple SIM dual standby refers to the fact that one and one only SIM card can be active when you use the smartphone and, if the user manually opts to activate the third card and use it, the active one will receive a deactivation.
Phones which have the possibility to hold two SIM cards were very innovative and a mega hit when they originally appeared. Triple SIM phones still have to gain the same success and the LG A290 leads the way. Info about a launch on global markets will hopefully be made at some point this year.
