Samsung Infuse 4G Gets Official Android Gingerbread Update
A new operating system available
Samsung released the Infuse 4G smartphone in May of 2011 and it was available from $49.99 if you signed a contract with AT&T. After waiting quite a while, users of this device will be more than happy to know that the Samsung Infuse 4G has an update to Android’s 2.3.6 Gingerbread.
Last year Samsung declared that it would update its Infuse 4G for AT&T with Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread OS in August. Well, folks, that didn’t happen. So here we are after 6 months of waiting and the company finally managed to bring this smartphone the long awaited upgrade. The company made an official announcement about this on the forum of AT&T; but, in a hilarious – or rather embarrassing – turn of events, Samsung forgot to activate the link to allow users to update their copies of Infuse 4G, so that they kept getting an error message whenever they tried to do the upgrade. Good news is that that’s all in the past now: if you want to get the new OS, just load up Samsung Kies and then pull the update; be warned, though: you have to first be connected to a laptop or PC to make sure everything goes well.
Improved performance
The official Android Gingerbread update for Samsung Infuse 4G has quite numerous changes to ensure a smooth performance without bugs, lags or other incredibly annoying cons. The Copy & Paste functionality was made much better, the keyboard now has buttons with wider spaces between them and the Quick keys sit at the top, both application control and management of power have also been improved, the multitouch software keyboard looks different, the promotional pre-load of Angry Birds is now absent, there are new options for Fonts, long running HTTP downloads have a download manager, downloads and Google Books were added, widgets will feature the name of their providers, a Traffic for Android widget and the removal of the Silent mode which is replaced with a Flight one.
