Sony Xperia SmartWatch
A very special gadget
Every time someone buys a smartphone, the one behind the desk advises a number of accessories to go with it if you want the most complete experience. Some of them are useless while others do indeed bring out the qualities of a smartphone. Sony is doing the same, but this time their Xperia SmartWatch is incorporating Google’s operating system in a gadget that makes a connection to a smartphone through Bluetooth and to show all sorts of things going on. This device will have the official release date as March will end and it will cost $149.99.
The Sony Xperia SmartWatch powered by Android is the kind of gadget that looks as if it would belong in a Sci-Fi movie, but the you hear it’s all real and ready to be embraced by technology geeks.
A lot of widgets included
The product previewed in our article is able to work with both the Arc S or Xperia S manufactured by Sony. What it actually does is to, once linked to an Android smartphone via Bluetooth, let the user read her or his e-mails, text messages, weather, the status of the battery and other interesting information while sitting at work, taking a walk in the park and such without actually looking at the smartphone.
The Xperia SmartWatch was tailored to have the same shape and size as an iPod nano and it even received the same clip on the back as that gadget. The number of widgets thrown into this gadget is 255 and they will all go into interactions with Sony’s latest Xperia smartphones and with any other Sony smartphone boasting the Android OS (via LiveWare, an application). Updates on Facebook, Twitter and so will also be shown by the Xperia SmartWatch and this device will control mobile audio player software remotely. Another interesting app is one that will operate the software of a camera. Sony reps said that the gadget’s battery would run between 2 and 4 days. We will be back with a detailed review to see if these things are correct.
