Haier LE55H330

A 55 inch 3D capable TV

2011 saw the most increase in the number of TVs with the capability of displaying 3D content. The vast majority of famous companies couldn’t fall behind with what the market was asking for, so they all started to produce this type of device with more or less success. 2012 is expected to bring an even bigger number of 3D TVs with all sorts of technologies, specifications and features on the side. We reviewed a lot of such products from the biggest names in the industry, so the time has come to introduce some new names known for making something completely different, like Haier. They have a good reputation as manufacturers of washing machines, air conditioners and so on. But what about their LE55H330 3D TV?

Good connectivity

Maybe you’ve grown tired of seeing the same black and glossy coated TVs in stores. Well, the Haier LE55H330 doesn’t like stereotypes, so it opted for a brushed aluminum bezel with a silver finish instead. It offers the same elegance, but in a way that’s refreshing to look at. Because of the speakers that are placed below the bezel, the device appears large. There are no out of the ordinary controls and the keys used for various functions respond very well thanks to the fact that the manufacturers paid extra attention when they made them. Ports, inputs and co. face the side, which means no more wires cluttering needlessly when the product is positioned against the wall. In our tests we were pleased with the number of connectivity options and nothing important lacked. The stand with its transparent finish offered great support and was capable of tilting its owner at such angles that made watching movies fit our viewing tastes.Haier-LE55H330

Easy to use interface

The white remote control offered by the Haier LE55H330 is made of plastic and thus emanated a cheap feel when we used it to flip through the TV’s channels. On the contrary, the buttons were very resistant and didn’t give up on us even after a week of tests. We didn’t find ourselves in front of a shop to buy a pair of 3D glasses, because the TV provided us with a free one that was solid and had a million-dollar performance.

When we think about the interface, we remember how easy it was to use it and how we could tweak audio quality and other options.

NTFS and FAT32 support

3D is the most notable feature of Haier’s LE55H330. Still, here comes the weird part: to get to this option, we had to press the key for video recording, as there was no actual button with the “3D” option etched on its surface. Other interesting feature is that you get to swap slot-in for the following cards: a PC one, a time shift one and, finally, a virtual gaming one. Support for NTFS and FAT32 external drives as well as support for multimedia formats is readily possible.

Rounding up our impressions of this TV are its performance results. Be sure to do a calibration, as we did; you’ll see that after it the colors will become warmer and will look more natural. Playback in the 3D mode was way better than what we experienced in the mode for 2D. Backlighting and its levels of black weren’t up to task and, when onscreen, we came across a couple of patches, not to mention that we inevitably registered some light bleeding. The audio quality of the speakers was generally without flaws.

Test and review conclusions

The Haier LE55H330 might be wet around the ears when it comes to 3D rendering, but with its specs this is a TV that shouldn’t be missed.
